In the blink of an eye, the first week of second grade is already over! I had a wonderful time getting to know all of my new students this week. I am looking forward to having a great year together.
On Monday, we will begin our STAR testing. Second Grade will take 3 separate STAR Tests; Early Literacy, Reading, and Math. These three tests will span the next two weeks. It's very important students arrive at school on time, as we do have an 8am test scheduled. If you have not already done so, please send in your students labeled headphones as well. Next week we are going to begin diving into our curriculum while we continue to practice our routines. We will review addition and subtraction facts from first grade, begin our writers workshop, begin our reading workshops, and so much more! Have a great weekend! Miss Eldridge

We survived day 1 of second grade! What an exciting day it was! We learned and practiced our rules, discussed the "First Day Jitters", and started creating All About Me posters!
I use a method of teaching called Whole Brain Teaching in my classroom. Whole Brain Teaching is an approach designed toward maximizing student engagement, and focusing on the way the brain is really designed to learn. Today we learned our Class, Yes!, Mirror Me, the Scoreboard, Teach, Okay! We also reviewed our classroom rules and the motions that go with them. We will continue to practice our rules and routines in the coming days. I am looking forward to day 2 tomorrow! Miss Eldridge |
